The goal of this research centre, based at Udayana University in Bali, is to establish a means for the ANU and Udayana University to have long-term linkage, outreach and deep engagement with each other, and with other universities, government institutions, and relevant stakeholders in Indonesia through collaborative interdisciplinary research in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
For the ANU, CIRHS will be part of the research hub of the School of Culture, History and Language (CHL), College of Asia and the Pacific (CAP), for a range of innovative programs to achieve CHL’s National Institutes Grant (NIG) goals, maximising local impacts specifically in/on Indonesia.
For Udayana University, CIHRSS will be part of the university’s mission and strategy to pursue and create opportunities for international research collaborations to achieve research excellence, improve research outputs and outcomes and enhance international engagement and impact in its pursuit towards becoming a world-class university.
